Testimonials

"We met Ron Dobervich and Jeff Mayer four years ago at a trade convention sponsored by the Texas Pediatric Society. Ron – a guest speaker at this event – introduced the concept that an employer sponsored health plan could indeed be designed to not only reduce a company’s premium cost but also improve the benefit level to the employees.

I was skeptical that this could be accomplished for our group, but approached Ron regardless after his talk.  I explained to him that we had a special high cost ongoing health issue in our group.  Every time we shopped the market, the new quotes were higher than whatever increase our current carrier was handing out.  Ron offered to do a free analysis of our group plan.

To our surprise, his audit suggested that we could keep our current carrier yet reduce overall costs by 35%.  We were impressed with his recommendations and granted him and Jeff an AOR.  Ron instituted an HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement) that did in fact reduce the out of pocket (OOP) risk to our employees.  Our current plan was a traditional PPO plan with a $1,000 deductible with 80/20 co-insurance to another $3,000 OOP, plus office visit/ Rx co-pays ($4,000+ co-pays).  The new plans OOP maximum was $1,600 including all Rx’s and office visits.

This was a +250% reduction of risk to our employees.  In fact the employee with the ongoing health issue saw their families OOP drop from over $7,600 (with additional risk to be reached in deductible/co-insurance if they were
hospitalized) to a hard maximum of $3,200 (no additional risk).  As a company we saved over $2,000/employee the first year under this program.

This has not been a one year happening.  Ron and Jeff made a plan design adjustment last year and we just got our fourth year renewal, a rate reduction of 5.6%!!  Our premiums are less than they were four years ago ($488/month single rate old plan four years ago versus our latest renewal rate $328.25/month).  We are still with the same carrier we had four years ago.  It was more than worth the free analysis offer they provided us four years ago."

"We are a computer data storage and servicing company located in Indiana.  We met Ron at our regional trade convention.  We had installed a Consumer Driven Health Plan (Health Savings Account) two years before at our company.  Ron asked if at our next renewal he could do a free analysis of our health insurance program to see if he could obtain greater savings for us.  His plan design recommendations garnered our firm additional savings of over $2,400/employee for the year.  He kept the HSA, which was popular with our employees in place, but added some new twists through an HRA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement).  We achieved these savings in spite of having some high end health issues in our group and without increasing out of pocket costs for our employees.

We renewed with the same plan design for a second year. The plan design changes that we received increased our bottom line, but aren’t often offered by traditional agents because it pays less in commissions."

Our long time health insurance broker brought in a special plan design consultant (Ron Dobervich) two years ago at renewal to help bring our costs down while trying to improve our employee’s benefits.  They took us from a $1,000 deductible with 80/20 co-insurance to another $3,000 out of pocket (OOP), plus office visit and Rx co-pays to a plan that limited our employees OOP to $1,600.  This improved benefit came at a price of $1,347 per employee per year in savings to our firm!  We just renewed for our second year with no changes in plan design in light of our 5% renewal – a renewal rate significantly lower than our historical renewal rates.  This has been a win-win for the firm and our employees.

“The unique approach Sage Benefit brought to our firm allowed us to save almost $2000 per employee on total premium and plan costs….Yet our employess got a better benefit. Their out-of-pocket exposure was cut in half. Sage took the time to educate both our management team and our employees on how HRA’s really work!!”

- Owner of a 40 person group

“Sage Benefit changed our companies health plan from a co-pay PPO plan to what they call a Health Reimbursement Plan. We stayed with our current carrier, but changed how the coverage works. Under the old plan I paid co-pays on 9 medications for me and several for my son. My out-of-pocket was over $500/month for these prescription co-pays. This HRA has cut that in half.”
